Aberdeen Homes for Sale
One of the fastest-growing neighborhoods in Kamloops is Aberdeen, located south of Highway 1 and west of Highway 5A. It provides easy access to the Coquihalla. It is a popular location for home buyers of all seasons, with a mix of multi-unit condominiums in the lower part of Aberdeen and larger single-family dwellings in the upper areas. Aberdeen is situated on the north side of the mountain, with the southernmost streets having some of the highest elevations in the city. The views from this neighborhood can be astounding although the winters can be slightly longer than neighborhoods closer to the Thompson River.
While Aberdeen is primarily residential, it is also home to many of the city's hotels, due to its proximity to the two major highways. It is also home to Costco and the Cascades Casino and is one of the only areas to house a mall. Aberdeen Mall includes Lulu Lemon and Sephora as well as Hudson’s Bay and Atmosphere.

Aberdeen, Kamloops Historical Facts
Kamloops was originally named Cumcloups, which is an indigenous word meaning’ meeting of the waters,’ by Alexander Ross of the Astoria Fur Company. Kamloops was impacted by the growth of the gold rush in the late 1850s, the overlanders’ arrival, and the railroad. Kamloops was incorporated in 1893, and North Kamloops became a town in 1961. In 1967, the two separate entities were amalgamated to form the city we know today. Kamloops is the central service area for lumbering, cattle-ranching, and the main industries in the city are wood and pulp processing, food canning and packing, and livestock marketing. Kamloops is the home of a railroad divisional point, and the Highland Valley copper mines closeby. The Trans-Canada highway runs through the city, so there are plenty of travellers who stop into the city on their adventures.
